I was happy when I first moved into Sharps & Flats - we had new carpet and freshly painted walls, the management was friendly, and laundry machines are cheaper than almost anywhere else in Davis. After a few months however, I have realized that the rent here is pretty expensive compared to other places in Davis and not worth the cost. The management, though still friendly when I see them, are NEVER in the office when you would think they should be. The free wireless internet you get is absolutely worthless. The maintanence guys are helpful and nice but it takes them several weeks to come fix anything. But the biggest problem is this: Sharps & Flats is a HIGH CRIME AREA...seriously. Management will tell you it's a safe complex but this is NOT TRUE. If you don't get your car broken into, your neighbor will! There are SEVERAL break-ins a month, and management does NOTHING about it.
When I was looking for apartments last year I chose Sharps & Flats because I thought it was a nice, safe area. What upsets me the most is knowing that I was lied to...the illusion of safety that the management promotes could not be further from the truth. I would never recommend anyone to live here unless management got a security crew who did rounds all night every night.
