Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
Well, I came upon this site and decided to do my fellow Aggies a service. I've been living at Sterling Pointe since September of 2003 (it's Feb 2004). I'm going to be moving out next year, but it is a fault of my roommates and not of this apartment.
It is not, however, perfect. The thing about it is, though ... some of the problems we have, the rest of the complex does not. So I'm sure you'll love your SP apartment if you're not in #28 or #25 b/c our hot water lasts about 10 min in the shower, and so does the guy beneath ours, apparently. The staff (to be fair) tried to fix it last week and it's still not working. Without a dishwasher, it's not too sanitary to be washing your dishes in lukewarm water.
But like I said, not everyone at the complex has this problem.
The rent is a little high, and the rooms a little cramped if you share them (12x12 in 2 bedroom.) This mostly comes from having a balcony in each bedroom, although some apartments have a larger balcony that opens into the kitchen. (I wish we had one of those; the smaller balconies are some 7 feet long and 3 feet wide.)
Oh, only the top level apts have balconies. The bottom levels have a patio that opens to a shared yard where you can't plant anything or something ... and there's no fences ... rather odd and unsafe if you ask me. (Rent is $1020 w/ balcony, $1000 w/o).
The walls are rather thin; from one bedroom you can hear the TV and whoever is in the living room and from the other you can hear the pots, pans and cabinets of the kitchen.
There are 2 bathrooms in each 2 bedroom apt, which is lovely for a bunch of women.
As for parking, they let you have as many cars as you want so it's first come first serve. I don't care; I don't have a car. The lots are both pretty full, but Albertsons is across the street so you could always park there, I suppose.
Oh -- that's another thing. Grocery shopping across the street! Praise be to Yevon! And The Marketplace (Safeway etc) is a 2 minute drive, 10 min walk away. The complex is also on the G line to UCD, which comes every 10 min. Oh, how I shall miss that.
Soo this place has some odd quirks. The property manager is hard to reach (only in office MWF and at odd hours) and the maintenance guy is ---- if you ask him for a repair before going through the prop manager, but things get done pretty quickly.
It seems that things will be good to not so good depending on where you land. Oh, phone reception sucks but we're stuck in the waaaay back (past the pool, nice pool, and nice study room and workout area too).
So yeah. I think I've said it all. Good luck.
