The Good and the Bad

Sterling Pointe was a mixture of good and bad points. It was in the most excellent position from campus- either a 10 minute bike ride or bus ride(located conveniently on the G and F lines). The apartment was also a pretty good size- 2 roomy bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a big kitchen and a nice balcony if you were upstairs like me. The negative side was that they charged $1080 a month, which is a lot with only two people there. My apartment was also on the street and it was extremely noisy and loud the entire day and most of the night, but I think this can be avoided if you don't have my particular apartment.
We didn't have any major appliance problems. The toilet didn't work once but it was fixed right away. The windows and screens are pretty bad though, they don't fit well and have lots of holes. The repair guy is overly nice and really enjoys his job and will help you learn how to do things yourself. he also lives in the complex so he is easy to get a hold of, but you have to go through the office first.
Management was pretty nice, they gave us lots of notes and flyers on what was going on in the apartment. It seems like they change managers an awfully lot at this complex though.
Parking was ok- you get your own spot but the lot is super small, I hit the wall once and dented my car.
Power and water and garbage rent is the worst part of this place. They have this communal system where they add up the total amount for the entire complex and then divide the cost evenly between residents. So even when I didn't use much I still had to pay for other people.
Communal things, such as laundry mat, study room, mini-gym, and pool were hardly ever used by more than one person at a time-there was a lot of availability.
Overall, if you dont spend all day at your apartment then this is a good choice because its close to school and shopping centers, but if you are looking for a fun social environment this isn't the spot. I'de live here again if I had to.
