LIVE SOMEPLACE ELSE!

Okay, so now that I'm no longer living here, I feel I can give a more honest review without being reprimanded or punished. Put simply, this apartment is one of the worst places I have ever lived in!
1) Overpriced: Rent is $1200/month (2 bed, 2 bath downstairs), but they charge you for EVERYTHING (water, trash, etc) in addition to PG&G. I'm not sure how they divvy up the bill between tenants, but just the water trash bill for my place was $130-150/month. Tack on about $15-20/month for PG&G depending on how much electricity you use...
2) Slow-speed internet: The internet is supposedly "high-speed" and is "free." With the rent already so high, you would think that the internet would be fast, but that's no where near reality. I would describe the speed as 56k on good days and like 10k during the bad days (it's about 10k nearly every day I was there). Kiss youtube, facebook, aim, etc goodbye...
3) Hulk Hogan (the maintenance man): He has eyes on the back of his head and is constantly watching everything you do. He lives in the apartment complex and can hear/watch everything you say. Literally. Bike in the parking lot or complex, and he'll threaten you with "I'll bring you to court and give you a lawsuit and slap you with a fine." Sleep or nap on the sofa in the 24 hour study room, and he'll come and tell your arse to get up and off his couch because "it's not meant for sleeping." Throw a party and pump up the music, and it's "someone has filed X-amount of complaints against you, so do not do that again (it was probably him)." Walk across the grass and get yelled at, move the furniture in the study room and get yelled at, have a few strands of silly string on the bushes/door outside of your apartment and get yelled at, get yelled at period...
4. Other: thin walls (you can hear 'things' sometimes ;D), screens can be easily taken down (makes you paranoid about robberies), cabinets are like 100 years old, cockroaches come out at night on the patio (although I only twice saw them in the apartment itself), little red bugs live in the bathroom, sinks were clogged and never drained, tub oftentimes flooded up to my ankles, pool was somewhat dirty at times, no pets are allowed, and parking lot entrances are one-way. Okay, now that that's out of my system...
5. Upsides: If you decide to live here, their are some upsides: it's across the street from Savemart, close to 4 buslines (G, J, 42B, 220), and not a bad bike ride to campus (exactly 14 minutes to get to the Shields Reserve).

I USED TO LIVE AT STERLING POINTE IN A TWO BEDROOM TWO BATH. I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE TWO BEDROOM ONE BATH. I THOUGHT THE APATMENT WAS VERY BIG. CABNETS WERE OLD BUT THEY HAD A LOT OF SPACE. I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH BUGS IN MY APARMTENT BECAUSE I KEPT IT REALY CLEAN. OF COUSE YOU SEE BUGS OUTSIDE BUT HEY ISN'T THAT WHERE THEY LIVE?! ALTHOUGH HULK HOGAN CAN BE A PAIN WHEN I DIDN'T FOLLOW THE RULES HE WAS ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL WITH ANY MAINT. REQUEST. THE PRICE IS A LITTLE HIGH BUT EVERYWHERE IN DAVIS IS HIGH. I ONLY MOVED BECUASE I BOUGHT A HOUSE. I LIKED THE FACT THAT PARTIES WERE NOT ALLOWED. I CAME TO THE APARTMENT BECUASE IT WAS QUIET. UTILITIES SUCK TO HAVE TO PAY BUT YOU PAY THEM EITHER ON YOUR OWN OF THROUGH YOU RENT EVERYWHERE YOU GO. THE OFFICE GIRL WAS ALWAYS NICE ALTHOUGH I WISH THE OFFICE WAS OEPN MORE THAN 3 DAYS. SHE ALWAYS WANTED TO HELP AND FELT BAD WHEN SHE COULDN'T. I WOULD RECOMEND THE APARTMENTS TO ANYONE THAT WANTS A BIG APARTMENT, CLOSE TO SHOPPING AND PRETTY QUIET.

Oh yeah, my bad. It was indeed a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment.
And yes, you do have to pay utilities everywhere, but many many many apartments (ie, Cranbrook, Wake Forest, and Pinecrest to name a few) have very similar rents (approximately $1200/month), and yet INCLUDE water and trash.
I stand by my review. It's not a fun place for undergrads who want to have a cheap, chill, and fun place to live. If you're like a really really mature graduate student or 30 years old... then yeah, this place'll do. Otherwise, look elsewhere!
