Another disappointed renter

I've lived in the so-called "Tennis Club" Apartments since they actually had tennis courts next to the complex. Although the tennis courts were removed over two years ago, this doesn't keep the owner from misleadingly advertising that the complex is resort-like(see their ad at http://www.werent.com/tennisclub.htm). I've stayed at a resort before and it is nothing like these apartments. First, the management of a resort does not continually call and harass his or her guests. Here, the manager rudely calls early in the morning on the day that the rent is due and demands payment ... even though you (by contract) have until 5 pm of the last day to drop the rent check off. Second, a decent resort would never have its landscapers mow the lawn or use the leaf blower at 8 or 9 in the morning. My bedroom window is only a few feet from the lawn and every week I am rudely awakened by this racket. Third, a resort usually does its best to keep frequent guests satisfied. Here, they actually act as if they want their long-term residents to move out so that they can make more money from new renters. I HIGHLY suggest that you LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!! If you decide to check it out, really, CAREFULLY READ THE CONTRACT. Take extra care in reading section 7 ("The time or manner of their use and/or temporary or permanent closing of these amenities will not reduce or abate the rent Tenant pays under this agreement") That means that, although you technically pay for the pool, assigned parking, and yard - including the backyard/patio storage, the owner can close it at any time and you would not be reimbursed a single cent. Read, also, section 13, which states that "Only door mats ... provided by Owner shall be used in front of apartment entry door. Other mats will be removed without notice." This policy is actually enforced!!!! It's a shame that they would rather spend their time enforcing stupid rules like this one than improving the conditions of this quickly deteriorating dump. The bottom line is this: don't expect this place to get any better, don't rely on the maintanence guys to do ANYTHING, and don't be blinded by the promised of a "resort-like" apartment. As for me, I'm getting out as soon as my contract expires ... since they will keep my deposit if I leave early (see section 4 of the rent agreement for that one). bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
