I have to admit my roomates and I were suckered in by all the extras like free internet, weightroom, tanning beds, computer labs, etc. But Sterling has definitely not lived up to the hype. THere are two main concerns for most residents: PArking and the internet. Parking is a huge problem because sterling is so far from campus and the management only issued 3 spots(one tandem that is a pain in the a$$) for the 4 bdroom apts and 2 for the 3 bedrooms. The result is people parking on fire lanes, triple parking, parking in front of the dumpsters.
The internet is the other main issue, it has slowly been improved but is now only sporadic at best. The management keeps making all these BS claims like (Our new upgrades will improve internet performance by 300%) haha what a joke. You constantly get disconnected and sometimes the internet won't work at all.
Beyond these 2 big issues I have some other problems with sterling. Like many of the other posters on this site I agree that the noise is a problem. It seems like alot of the people here are pretty disrespectful. Which is typical of many college apts I guess, but the way that sterling is set up makes it more of an issue. Because the volleyball/bbq/pool area is so centrally located almost every apartment on the south side has to listen to drunkards playing volleyball at all hours of the night.
Another concern is the general upkeep of the apartment. Garbage always piles up near the totally ineffective trash compactor. Broken glass is also an issue in the parking lot. Drunkards throw their beer bottles on the ground and the management is slow to have it removed this is doubly true for puke on the stairs/hallways, most of the time it never gets cleaned. This review probably makes it sound a little worse than it actually is, but that is because sterling is a pretty expensive place to live and i feel the management doesn't do enough to make it worth it, they just want to get you in the door with all the fancy extras and then once you sign the contract they don't care. This seems to be their main business philosophy and is especially evident in the materials they used to make the walls/doors. Everything looks nice when you tour the apartment but everything starts falling off/breaking as soon as youve lived there for a few weeks/days
