Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005

I first moved into this apartment complex when it opened in 2003 as Sterling University. Everything that year was awesome, the amenities were great, the grounds were fairly clean, and the staff was pretty helpful as well. I resigned for a second year at this complex and since it was bought by Sequoia Equities and changed to University Village. I will admit, when they first took over management things were fairly unorganized and there was a lack of communication between the office and residents. However, as the year has continued on I have found that all of the previous problems that I had with the place (the ones listed in the previous reviews: parking, internet, trash, etc.) have been taken care of. The internet is now just as reliable as it was last year, the parking situation has been basically solved in addition to the fact that Sequoia is adding more spots for next year. And the trash (90% of which is accumulated from parties and people who simply have no respect for their home) has been greatly reduced and cleaned up. Overall, the new management seems to have gotten control of the situation and in addition this place still has the best amenities in Davis (Resort style pool, free tanning, free complete gym, beach v-ball, great apartment set-ups, and washer and dryer in every unit). For the people that complain about the noise, trash, and broken glass, what they have to realize is that this apartment is geared toward college students and last year was the number one place to party in Davis (Picnic Day Riot ring any bells''') So obviously there is going to be more noise and more trash due to parties over the weekends. All in all it is a great place to live for college students, the amenities are great, the staff is great, and yes, parties do happen here, but they have diminished somewhat and there is also a patrol guard during the nightshifts.
