Cons:
Auto theft issue
We had to move out of the apartment because of *severe* mildew (a 6x2 feet patch in master bedroom)
Loud noise from the highway in the back of the complex: enough to not hear somebody talking.
Not customer oriented management in my opinion more concerned by rent being paid than quality of life in the complex
Not enough machine in the laundry room (1 small laundry room for about 100 units!)
Frequent presence of the police for various neighborhood issues.

This person's review was for almost 4 years ago. I lived there from 2002-2005 and loved it! I moved in right after a new company, HG Fenton, bought it. They did a great job. The landscaping is still beautiful. Yes, if you choose an apartment close to the East side of the property you are close to the freeway and it can be noisy. But the key word is choose. There are many other apartments away from that area. I never had a mold or car theft issues. I don't know what neighborhood issues there could have been, but I'd rather have the police around than not have them there. They installed washer/dryer and heating and a/c in 2004. Loved it!

The car break-in & theft thing is still a big issue. I still live here and it's June of 2006. There have been 4-5 smashed windows, items stolen in only 10 months. True about choosing the apt. close to the freeway. I waited until something became available in the middle of the complex before I moved - I did not want to live next to the freeway - that noise was obvious from the first moment you got close to that side of the buildings. So yes, if you chose to live in the apts close to the freeway then you can't fault the complex or management for that. Also, I have mold in my bathroom - not severe but also partly my fault because I don't use the fan probably like I should - but I always shower with the door open too... Never seen the cops here, so apparently that's not really an issue anymore.

H.G. Fenton However is NOT a good company . Look at Solana Highlads apts in Solana Beach . They own that and it's a mess . The manager there is a dickhead and he lives here with us at Bella Del Mar . I'm sure rent free . The best thing to do is not to rent anyplace that h.G. Fenton owns . The only reason I live here is because my kid is going to school next door and I work at vons so I'm saving $ on gas .
