Inattentive management

A good number of their units are in close proximity to the BART tracks (I looked at 3 before settling on my building.) If you are sensitive to noise, these would not be a good choice. The manager would not accept going to a month-to-month lease option after 1 year in the residence (an option that I found common in the east bay.)
The rent was raised with no prior notification (not even a slip of paper in the mailbox.) The units are maintained at minimum levels. Pricing was average for the area, and included a garage. That said, the garage leaks when raining and the manager makes those repairs either at random or at his leisure (no change to mine after 18 months.) I was asked by other renters what the status of my garage was, so it appears to be a common complaint. There are often better managed and maintained units a few minutes down the road in the Berkeley area.
