My wife and I were very excited to only pay a $200 deposit when we first signed our year long contract. Little did we know that was just bait to get more money out of us. I will first tell you about the deposit and then go down the list of complaints that sum up my family's year and a half sentence spent at Vineyards. The management told us that regardless of what condition of the carpet is in $205 is paid to clean it. So right there I have to fork over $5. Even though my wife and I went through our place to clean the walls and make any touch-ups they are charging us $300. Yes, $300. So basically they really should advertise a deposit of $500. That is really dishonest and unprofessional.
When we moved in Dec '07 there was a leak in the roof. We called management to come and fix it. They didn't fix it for another two months. By that time the ceiling was already falling on our heads. The light fixture that is positioned over where the dining table goes did not function as a result of that leak. Then it leaked again. The towel rack fell apart at day one. the access to the balcony from the master bedroom was not properly insulated. Water evidently leaked in from there and got our stuff wet. Our building (17) had a mouse infestation and all management did was send someone to plug up the holes they were using. Now they are either making new holes or are rotting inside the walls. They will no assign you an undercover parking spot unless you pay money. Our water heater would stop working at least once a week during the entire time we lived there. Management never responded to that, and we learned to live with it. When it came time to renew our contract they told us we would have to pay an extra $100 a month to sign another year contract, or pay an extra $300 to go month-to-month. We asked if we could just pay the same and stay another three months. They told us that was out of the question. It wasn't until we went to sign on to another apartment that they were willing to work with us. When we moved in we were told the pool was heated, but there wasn't a day that it was above 70 degrees! Our bikes were stolen. This is a management who takes little responsibility and a lot of your money! I have found a nice duplex in Folsom for 60% of what I paid at Vineyards.
