My wife chose this apartment because of the (false) security of having a gated complex.

Guess what? Don't be deceived by this apartment's good looks plus the "warm, courteous, and friendly" staff when you're a prospective tenant. All these will change when it's time to move out.

I'm in the military and came back to Elk Grove on leave to move my family out of the apartment. Because of the stress caused by my 9-month absence and the preparation for closing on a house we bought, my wife missed the 3rd day to drop off her rent payment (which is the first time). The staff didn't care and quoted "You're late and you owe us the $50 late fee." They also told me that they may consider waiving the late fee IF it was an emergency like someone gets hospitalized, etc. To prevent further arguments, I told the staff members to take it from the deposit.

On or about 11 Sep 09, I also requested for a pre-walk through since I'm scheduled to go for military training 10 days later. This never happened, and they told me to come back on the day I'm supposed to fly out & request for one because their maintenance staff are gone for the day. This is what customer service is about, right? NOT!!!

I went back to the Middle East after my leave. I told my wife to simply vacuum the carpet and clean the bathrooms since we've heard horror stories that we'll never get our deposit back. On 11 Oct 09, my wife told me on the phone that she got a bill for $300 on top of the $350 deposit for overdue trash bills, deep carpet cleaning, and "PROFESSIONAL" paint services that their maintenance folks did. These folks will get their "first month half rent" back at all costs. RENTERS BEWARE!!!!

Please take my comments with a grain of salt, but take your hard-earned money somewhere else.
