A few months ago there were rats on the floor where the mail was and although I do not hear any rats burrowing around anymore there has been a persistent, horrible smell in the elevators for a while. I have heard from several other tenants that there were some drowned rats in the elevator shaft which poses some concerns to me about possible health issues. Also, the doors to each floor besides the ground floor are locked from the stairwell and management will not unlock them due to "safety issues" although I do not understand seeing as to anyone who would want to could just take the elevator up where they wanted to go... assuming the elevators are working (which one of them often isn't). A couple weeks ago the doors the the elevators above the ground floor were also closed, which made you have to open and push through the heavy doors after the elevator doors opened (no small feat with groceries in tow) and as far as I know none of the residents have received any notice or word about any of these issues or how they plan to fix them, although we do get useless weekly (or perhaps monthly) newsletters from the complex.
