I lived at Bridgecourt for 3 years and within that time I'd seen or experienced: 3 mice/rats (furry critters... that didn't belong), roaches (less than 10 but never should have been), the worst, most unreliable mgmt staff i'd ever seen ("Lori and Penny"... i can't imagine what they're doing in this business!). The area is a mixed-use area... a lot of poor folks and a lot of folks with means. In many cases, you get awful behavior from both... expressed differently. I didn't find Bridgecourt to be a neighborly place... both the po' folks and "better-off" folks were ill-tempered and inconsiderate. And, for the life of me I can't see why folks of little means would get some of the best apts. One guy had 3 or 4 kids, a 2 story, multiple BDR place... but it was filthy, filthy, filthy... now that was ghetto (and he and family were not black... but eastern indian or arabic). One of the guys who worked there told me... you can't tell by looking at folks' appearance and cars... what kind of home they will keep. He said it would amaze you how disgusting their homes were. The guy with the 4 kids, I think he was paying maybe 20% of what I paid (if that) but his place was atrocious. I guess folks of any mean "p" where they sleep but the least you can do is be clean.
For me, the worst thing about that complex was the way it was run... the management staff. I found Mgr. "Lori" (name changed slightly) to be a double-talker... I always got the sense she was lying or trying to be a smooth- talker. Basically she'd say one thing... and before you could wrap your head around what she said... you'd be thinking, "what the hell did she just say'" Asst. "Penny" (name changed slightly)... she was as ghetto as any woman usually assoicated with the word ghetto I'd ever seen... but I don't think she could see that in herself. It was a weird experience living there but my place I LOVED.. and to pay such pricey rent for the muriad of issues (including having to pay all of the utilities)... it just wasn't worth it. But Emeryville is a nice place... everything is about the people around you. It's more about behavior than money, class or status.
Former tenant, My 3 cents!
PS: From the outside... things look nice and well maintained. After you live their a month... you notice they don't powerwash the garage, stairs or walkways often enough... they do powerwash the areas that "prospectives" will see. Folks leave mattresses and crap by the dumpsters so that when you're leaving your apt/home... you have to pass by the junkyard. The don't spray or bait for rodents, roaches, ants... or they didn't while I was there (until they had that infestation of rodents). The outside doorlocks are often broken and left broken for days... until a tenant informs someone. The garage situation I think is dangerous because the doors are often broken or jammed and because cars that you've never seen seem to come in after you (I'd always get out of my car thinking... there should be security personel in each garage... because I think it's the best point of entry. Folks don't question you as you walk on foot or drive in behind them, the doorlocks for the backdoors are often broke or left open... if I had ill-intentions... that'd be my point of entry. Finally only a few times has someone parked in the spot assigned to me. I always thought... well if I had a guest... I wouldn't be so inconsiderate as to tell them to park inside... especially without confirming an empty space. There's so much space outside of the garage it was just maddening to see. I'm guess their visitors' cars were too important to leave outside the garage... and the tenant just didn't have sense enough to give the guest THEIR space and park outside... they just preferred to inconvenience someone else. Ya see... ghetto behavior and living standards are not specific to any one race except human... check your history... heck read the papers, watch television, etc.

Perhaps you have forgotten Bridgecourt takes a photo ID and keeps it in the file for all residents. Therefore, when we do have a lock out, the file is pulled and reviewed when the key is pulled. We were already able to identify you. Security is a very real concern in the times we live and we take it seriously. Our staff was standing by for your return to advise we only changed one of the two locks to ensure you still had access with the key on your keyring. We strongly recommend updating your file to ensure the most recent contact information.
