An honest review for this complex

We have lived here for 2 years and there are pros and cons to this complex. We have a 2 bed, 2 bath unit which faces the shopping complex parking lot. The apartments inside are clean (at least ours is) and well maintained. We bought our own washer\dryer so we don't need to use the shared laundry room. Having that option was great. They just upgraded the laundry room with new machines so it is much nicer now.
The apartments inside are nice, modern, and seem to be built well. We haven't had many problems and if we did, management took care of it quickly. Everything works as it should.
Management was very responsive to our needs. I think the manager gave us more atttention because we were not section 8 and paid the full price for rent. It's convenient that packages can be delivered to the front office so you can pick them up after work. New security cameras were just installed and the parking garage lights made brighter so safety appears to be better.
The biggest problem that I see here is the fact that at least 40% of the units are Section 8. I think there is around 60% Section 8. You cannot mix have nots with the have everything. It seems like most of the Section 8's are ----- and they do not have respect for the building. I have seen tenants throw garbage on the floors (even when garbage cans are available on every floor). There always seems to be something that is broken. The garage gate and outside gates are broken alot. It takes many days, even weeks to get it fixed. Even though the garage is well lit, I don't think its too secure. Cars have been broken into this year. Four times someone has urinated in the elevator. Our upstairs neighbours walk like elephants and make noise at all hours of the night. Noise insulation between units is great. We stay up late and watch our movies loud and have never had any complaints. It takes alot of noise to actually disturb us so it surprises me that we could here the upstairs neighbor. Many nights there are people fighting outside and cars blasting music. We have had revolving upstairs neighbors who have been very noisy.
If this apartment was closer to Emeryville, it would be awesome. The problem is that it is too close to Oakland and San Pablo. The area is convenient for shopping and commuting to SF but there are drawbacks. Large trucks deliver goods to Home Depot late at night, cars race in the parking lot, Motorcycles race around...this all makes alot of noise. You won't like it if you are a light sleeper. Plus the area is just not very safe at night. You won't want to walk around at night for exercise.
We are moving out this year because they have raised our rent too much and it is not worth that much money in this area. We are moving to a much safer area but the commute will be longer. It's a trade off but I value my security more than convenience.
BridgeCourt is a decent apartment if you can get past the Section 8, noise of the cars, fighting couples, garbage, and not so friendly neighbors. You also must get a top floor unit to isolate yourself from any noise. We just couldn't justify paying almost $2000 for an apartment in a poor area with lots of noise and garbage. If the rent wasn't so high, it would be convenient to live here. The Section 8 people really annoyed me and if I am paying 2K per month, I want my neighbors to respect their living areas like I do. Thank god were outta here soon!

You stuck up ass -----! nobody told you to move your uptight ass in there anyway, yeah there are some section 8 residents but that doesnt make them beneath you, any area you move into will have dirty/ loud/ garbage etc, but its not because the people are on section 8. The section 8 people are probably saying the same thing about your ass!!!!! -------!!!

Seems all of you missed the part where the original post mentioned that most of the Section 8-problem people are -----. Excuse me, but could you tie that all together for me? Is there something important about being ----- and section 8 and the problems you see or did you just let your true prejudice slip with that one?

Wow. The responses to what is just an honest review are only going to further solidify any prejudices that one may hold against welfare recipients and living amongst them. I've visited this complex recently, and unfortunately this is about as good as it gets for Emeryville options for the price. I'm just dissappointed that the ignorant and dependent, whom can't even spell correctly nor go more than a few sentences without profanity, are given such nice places in which to receive their section 8 discounts.

Nope, I didn't miss the first few lines about most of the section 8 people are of a particular race. The bottom line is that there are certain people who don't know how to treat the place in which we reside, but to down grade a set of people or a particular race, is disgusting. I'm sure their could have been another way to express your dislike. So, please, have the couth and class to demonstrate that earning atleast 2k(that you pay on rent) isn't being thrown away. Goodluck in your new rental.

Yea section 8 people are flat out nasty and the sad thing is I bet the few hard working, honest section 8ers out there are not the ones getting these nice apartments- it's the nasty lazy 8ers with baby mamas who work at these section 8 admin offices with connections that hook them up. What I don't understand about these mixed housing is that it's really a 1 way street. It was setup to benefit the "po- people", to improve their lot in life by integrating with hard working honest people, but what about giving us hard working honest living people an incentive to live with these guys and show them the light as well?

WOW!!! Well I am a graduate student at UC Berkeley and a section 8 recipient. I have been on this program for one year since the birth of my daughter. I am use to living in very nice condo style apartments that include washer/dryer in the unit with a exercising facility in the building. It has been very difficult to find a place that is nice and accepts section 8 because of the bad name that some of the recipients have given the program. If I am unable to find a nice place that meets my standards, I am going to give up my voucher. I am now finding out that there are ok places, such as this one, I just need to search for them. The amenities of the apartments sound appealing...I guess I will have to schedule a viewing to see if this is somewhere I would like. Thanks for your opinions.

I can't believe all of the racist comments about section 8. I have several family members on section 8 and they take pride in their homes they have made improvements like they owned the places. So please be careful when grouping different people together, not everyone on section 8 in that building is nasty nor have noisy kids running around. I have two relatives that live in the bridgecourt on section 8 with kids and they go to work everyday like the rest of us and their apartments are beautiful.
