I have lived in the Courtyard Apartments for about six months (So I'm a veteran here). Yes the rent is outrageous, from $1410-$2010 for a ONE bedroom.
Trains: I live on the Hollis side and I still hear them, double paned windows or not! It is mainly their horns, but horns or no, expect to hear them at all hours. I had a hard time sleeping for the first three or so weeks because the trains always woke me up, but you do get a little used to it with time.
Maintenance: Ha, forget it. When Imovedin the following was broken: no door to cover the W/D, Dishwasher was not screwed down and bounced all over the kitchen, no paneling on the side of the bathroom cabinets, molding in the bathroom stopped about 3 inches from the wall, patio floor was bubbling, the patio door did not fit in its frame, several lights weren't working, a few plugs, and the front door wouldn't lock all the way because it didnt fit in its frame. It took them 4 months to get everything listed fixed, except the front and patio doors are still that way.
Security: there have been several break ins, and the garage gate is frequently broken so it is left open for anyone to come in.
Management Staff: They can't really be consistently critiqued because it changes over every two months or so.
Insulation: Our apartment is always freezing in the winter, and hot in the summer. The heating vents are on the ground right beside the patio door, so the hot air just runs right outside before it can heat the place up.
I am trying to leave, but the other posts are right about the bureaucracy. It is the most ridiculous lease I have ever read. Anyone looking to rent here, even after what is listed here, should read the lease carefully and make any changes necessary.
