Just finished up a year living at the Watergate. I feel like I've been paroled from a federal prison.

It's a shame, too. The Watergate complex is one of the prettier places to live in the East Bay. For folks who like taking long walks, the boardwalk adjacent to the complex offers easy access to a beatiful walking trail.

When you move in, the condo association office gives you a booklet filled with condo rules. Things the management compny forgets to tell you when they're shilling for customers. What kind of things' The building's cable system is so out of date that it is incompatable with the city's system. If you want HBO, you'd better hope the signal bleeds through like it did at my condo. Otherwise, no HBO for you! The condo association is well aware of the problem even though they pretend they didn't know when you go to complain about it. In fact, if you read the minutes inside the condo's monthly newsletter, you'll see that the decision to upgrade the building's antiquated system are continually tabled until the following month. Last month's minutes stated that the dicussion had been going on for four years!

The management company also touts the complex as "crime free." Cars are vandalized fairly often depending on which part of the complex you live. In one building, the lobby sofa was stolen. Guess the security folks are too busy towing legally parked cars.

There are a lot of amenities there, and if you use them all the time, then you will get your money's worth. If not, you can do better living elsewhere and not having to try and deal with the folks at Watergate Management, all of whom have the collective depth of a pizza pan.
