I moved into my apartment to find my carpet stained, the walls not painted and none of the outlets would hold a plug. On several occasions I requested maintenance only to come home to half the problem repaired. I sent an email in response to the one I received about how my service had been. I reported my problems where not fixed to my satisfaction. I never received a return phone call or follow up visit. The worst part though was in the end when my lease was up on 2/28 and I put my notice to vacate in on 2/1 as most people would do. The office then reported to me that I needed to pay for 2 days of March since I had not given a full 30 days notice even though my lease was up on the 28th. I do know that this is not something required by the state of California and any management company gives their managers the power to make alterations to lease terms at their discretion. The manager stated it was California law and she couldn t do anything. In my opinion she was just choosing to be difficult and not looking at me as a person who needs every penny to relocate. I then got a copy of the California landlord tenant act and took it in to show them what was stated in this document. It showed they did not have to charge me for those 2 days. The manager began to get very upset and argumentative and said she was just following her companies policies. She asked me what had happened to me I was always such a nice resident and caused no problems. Wow you would think if this was the case she would be a little more understanding and helpful. So I then went on my way and paid out those 2 days which by the way they decided to charge at the increased rent amount instead of what my current lease stated. On the day of my move out I cleaned my apartment and had a walk through done with the maintenance supervisor who informed me that I would be charged $95 for a clean since they would need to have a cleaning service come in to clean it as well as over a $100 for a paint since I had not occupied the apartment for 13 months or more. This is ridiculous, who the heck signs 13 month leases on a regular basis' I cleaned the apartment and did not cause any damage to the walls it was all normal wear and tear not to mention they did not even paint the unit when I moved in. I went into the office to try to speak to the manager about this. I asked for her to show me in the lease where it says they will automatically charge you for a clean and paint if you occupy the apartment for less than 13 months. The manager again got agitated and said the lease was to long and she wasn t going to take the time to show where it stated this information. So here I am just asking for simple information that any good manager should be able to locate in a lease that she requires people to sign on a daily basis. Do you think when I moved in they informed me that I would owe these cleaning and painting fees when I moved out since my lease was 1 month shy of this so called time line for charges or do you think they even offered me a 13 month lease. No of course not. The office always acted as though they were to busy and you were inconveniencing them by asking for any help what so ever. The community is clean, and quit for the most part but the staff in the office is horrible. After the way I was treated I would not recommend this community to anyone.

1 30=31, not 28. Someone needs remedial math. You gave then 27 days notice, no wonder. And why would you *not* sign a 13 month lease? That means your rent stays the same for over a year... sounds like a good deal to me! When we moved in, it was made clear that after 24 months we were not responsible for the paint.

So, I have to ask....Did some resident really log on here on 7/24/07 to reply to each and every response to make the apartment complex sound like the best thing since sliced bread. Or, the more likely story....was someone bored in the Hidden Cove office on 7/24/07 and decided to make it seem like a better place to live? You be the judge!

Oh my word. The only reason I logged on to this was to complain about the very issue mentioned above. Go figure. Apparently (though they couldn't show it to me in the lease) we were going to be forced to pay $400 becuase I had not given my 30 days notice on the first of the month. In my original contract I said I would leave at the end of the contract. It was up at the end of the month. Why do I need to come in again and tell them the same thing? Doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, they decided I needed to pay another month of rent, or pay for 9 days. I showed them it was only 7 days, and they said no, it is 9 days. I did the math for them verbally, and they said, no it is 8 days. Then I explained one more time that it was 7 days so they pulled out their calculater and said, ok. It is 7 days. The nerve! I tried to reason with them, but they refused to compromise. They said they couldnt' do anything becuase "corporate" makes them do this. Could I talk to a manager? No. They're gone for the day. What happens if I don't sign that I'll pay? I might get hit with more.
I liked them at first, but since they're losing my business they couldn't care less how happy we are.
Oh, and three criminal issues have happened since we've been here. I'll mention them in a separate post though so more people can read it.
It is a nice place overall, but just anticipate a harsh move-out expereience.
