Pretty nice place

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
We have been living at Round Hill Creek for over a year now and it has been a pleasant experience. We have a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment, with a nice private entrance/porch area. The inside of the apartment is very spacious, with lots of storage space. The kitchen cabinets, countertops and the carpet are all a little too worn out for my liking but at least we lucked out on brand new appliances. The apartment itself is pretty old, yet thus far nothing needed any major repairs. The maintenance was prompt in taking care of the minor problems we did experience. The management seems nice and reasonable. I wish they accepted credit card payments though... The rent is decent. Our cat costs us an extra $15/mo. in pet rent.
The location of the complex is great: 3 min. from the freeway, 2 minutes from a nice shopping center and gas stations. Parking is never a problem. Each unit has one covered parking spot assigned and there are plenty of uncovered spots both within the complex and alongside the street. The complex is gated but in a funky-weird way - after 6pm gates are closed so no one without a transmitter can drive into the complex, yet anybody can walk around the gate and get into the complex on foot at any time. We have heard about cars getting broken into and about a battery getting stolen from a motorcycle, but thankfully our cars have been spared. I do not know if car break-ins are a prevalent problem in Fairfield.
Round Hill Creek has beautiful landscaping, running water and lots of calming greenery. There are gorgeous pomegranate trees and weeping willows. The only issue is that taking care of the landscaping requires lots of work. Grounds maintenance people start out early (7:30am on most days) and are very loud. The landscaping includes circulating water and fountains. The water is nice because it drowns out the street noise. The water also attracts lots of birds. Robins, phoebes, finches and swallows nest within the complex and we have even been visited by a pair of kingfishers. Our immediate neighbors are very nice and quiet; often we forget we have neighbors. Once in awhile there will be a crying baby or a party, nothing excessive though.
Overall, this is a nice complex to live in and we would recommend it. One potential problem - there is talk about putting a Wal-Mart in the currently unoccupied shopping center across the street. If this indeed takes place, the expected increase in traffic will make this apartment complex a less desirable place to live.
