This place is getting old, and it shows! The interiors are just awful, they look like they are straight out of the 80's. I believe the place was built in the early to mid 1980's and they have not updated the interiors. They charge way too much for what you get. Let me give you some insight on what you will recieve: cabinets are original and need to go! They are falling apart, they are off-white with this terribly dated pinkish-sandalwood faux finish. Appliances are from the 80's, black and white Hotpoint, stove is really ugly, dishwasher doesn't clean and is also unsightly, and dryer overheats after one hour (which is not enough time to dry even one load), and fridge leaks water everywhere. Maintenance has done nothing but leave a note on my door that reads "all items complete." By "all items complete," did they mean "don't know how to fix it" or "I don't want to fix it'" Microwave and wash machine are newer, and work well. Countertops are original in kitchen and baths and are in poor condition. They are all white Formica, includes some small burn marks, major chips off the sides, and are separating in areas from years of water damage. I just love them! Stainless steel kitchen sink in okay condition, but garbage disposal is really old and hardly works. Kitchen faucet is chrome and looks okay. Bathroom sinks are original. They are white aluminum, and are rusting and falling apart at the overflow drain. Faucet is old-school, I do not like 80's look with the plastic crystal handle. Mirrors have rust spots in both of my bathrooms. Door hardware is GOLD finish, it's really ugly. However, it is chrome in the bathrooms. Baths have old, cheap, chrome towel bars and t/p holders, and dull and creepy shower rods. Ahhh, the showers. Here is a major problem. My shower fixtures are so old they started falling apart from rusting. Drain/tub stopper is rusted out, I had to go buy a cheap rubber replacement one. Overflow plate fell off due to rusting. Maintenance could only re-attatch it with caulking-it looks really ugly. One of my showers doesn't drain well, so I stand in 5-6 inches of water when I take a shower. Next item, the windows. Windows are original, they are ugly and they mildew and they leak. Both of my window screens are bent up. I believe the window blinds are also original. They are so dingy that they are yellowish. The verticals on the sliding glass door are so difficult to operate and are soooo ugly. Honestly, it's embarassing when I have company. Doors and baseboards show years of re-paints. Smoke detectors are now yellow, not yellowish, but full-on YELLOW. Also, the thermostat is yellow. It's definately an antique-also rarely works properly. Switches and plugs are "ivory", meaning yellowish-beige, instead of standard white. Many plug plates are seriously hanging on by a thread. My kitchen flourescent light fixture had to be replaced because it blew out, thank god because that original was hideous. All the light fixtures are dated in fact. As for flooring, lino in okay condition upon move-in, carpet was new.
So that's what you'll get in a nutshell.
If you loved the 80's, you'll love the Overlook.
