This complex used to charge $2700 during the boom years. Obviously, they aren't getting anything close to that now, so they make up for it in border-line illegal ways.
1. They won't return a penny of your deposit unless you throw the code book at them and come close to threatening a small claims court case. I had to argue with the manager (Rhonda) for 3 weeks. She did not contest anything I said, just hoped to wear me down and make me give up. I got a lawyer friend to serve a legal notice, and got my refund check in the next 3 days
2. The charges for water are EXORBITANT. When we signed the lease, they did not point out water was extra (it was in the fine print), and water charges were $40-$50 a month. In my townhouse now, water is just $18 a month. I figured we were paying for all the people who washed their cars in our parking lot
3. The laundry room and guest parking spots are a MILE away (our apartment was on the lagoon). Visitors used to call us from the guest parking, asn we'd drive down to pick them up.
4. Paper thin walls, general bad maintenance.
5. Management has a general feeling of entitlement. They called me to say all the plant pots on my balcony have to be the same size/shape/color.
Please do yourself a favor - STAY AWAY from this place
