it's not perfect, but it's not horrible

After weeks of research and looking around, I figured paying a few hundred bucks more for safety, convenience, beauty, and serenity was worth it (I was looking around the pennisula, mainly San Mateo and Burlingame). You get all these goodies: swimming pool (heated year round), rec room, huge laundry room with cable TV and card readers (no need to quarters!), free private tennis lessons, beach volleyball, even little beach/park areas (I have my kayak there, and I sunbathe and sip my beer there) overlooking the water way.

When you move into any apartment, you're going to expect some noises. I've been living in my one bedroom since June '04, and I'm sometimes bothered by the loud noises coming from the BBQ/pool area, especially kids screaming and splashing around. People walking by and laughing can be very audible in the morning and at night. My neighbors have been respectful so far, so never really EXTREMELY LOUD noises. What I REALLY HATE are the staff workers. Some people complaining that they don't do enough. I am complaining that they do too much too early! Even before 9am, you hear people mowing and trimming and strolling around with their electric carts.

As for the ant problem, I only noticed it yerstday (I found a couple in my bedroom, killed them, and never saw them again). I love the spacious rooms and closers. I hate the little counter space in the kitchen, but overall it's not bad (I've already had several dinner parties). The dishwasher was the main problem: it spray and spilled water everywhere. I complained and was immediately fixed within 1 busines day. Haven't tried it yet (do I dare').

I'm too afraid to nail anything to the wall, even though my friend (who actually worked at Beach Cove's rental office before--don't hate her, please!) said I can just use stuco or whatever when I move out. But I'm scared it'll only add to Beach Cove's argument on stealing my deposit.

I really like this place, but then again, I'm a recent college graduate happy to live on my own finally. It's in a safe neighborhood, easy parking, ample lighting, and RIGHT BY THE BEAUTIFUL RIVER WAY! Great for joggers, boaters, tennis players, etc. The gym room sucks (only three pieces of equipment). Haven't tried the pool/ping-pong tables.

I haven't had too much interaction with the rental staff, but I can "sense" their greediness and unprofessional attitude. I'm just going to stay away from them as much as possible, then try my best to get my deposit back.
