Sorry to leave

I've lived here for 18 months, and I am sorry I have to go. My job is taking me to the South Bay, and the drive is just too far. It's tough finding another place closer to my new office that has the same features as this place.

The Pros:
* 900 sq ft for a 1 bedroom
* HUGE walk-in closet (I think I had a bedroom that size in college)
* Washer & dryer in the apartment (I'm never going back to laundry rooms again)
* Pet-friendly - and they overlooked my 3rd cat
* Private garage
* QUIET - I never hear noise. Last time someone had a barking dog, they took care of it. The loud party-people generally can't afford to live here.
* LOCATION - Foster City is so safe, clean, and mellow. It's also easy access to any Bay Area road trip. Great Safeway down the street.
* Good move-in deals.

The Cons:
* Good move-in deals - but expect a huge rent hike at lease renewal.
* Cost, of course. This place is pricey, but if you are stuck on the extras, you are going to have to pay for it anywhere on the peninsula.
* It seems my building has settled a little since it was built. The floor slants ever so slightly, and doors and windows stick a little in their frames.
* Mismatched wall, tile, carpet colors. They seem to install what they get cheaply, and none of it really matches. Varies by apartment.
* Impersonal service - the maintenance staff has been friendly (responsive, waving), but the office staff speaks to you as if you were an inconvenience to them. Occasionally, if you catch them in the morning or call them by name, they are friendlier.
* Neighbors park in front of my garage, preventing me from getting my car in/out - not good when late for work. I've complained, but the office staff has never done anything about it. Police can't help since its private property.

Overall, I am sorry I have to leave, and I have put it off for as long as possible.
