Scary. Very... Took my entire deposit and sent a bill for more.

STAY AWAY FROM FOSTERS LANDING!!!! Scary, scary people hanging out in the parking lots. Foster's Landing kept my entire deposit to cover "cleaning, repainting, and carpet shampooing" and sent me a bill for more even though I never actually moved in (I was too scared). Having just started going through a divorce, I was anxious to find a new place. Fosters Landing has a nice, clean front office and a price tag high enough to limit the residents to professional like myself. Or so I thought...
My lease started August, 2008. While still living with friends, I began to move in a few boxes here and there over my lunch breaks. During my delivery trips to the apartment, there was often a loud, bizarre, and kinda scary looking crowd of a dozen or so people and someone who appeared to be their "supervisor" hanging out in the parking lot. They definitely did not keep to themselves as I made my way past them and I had no idea what to expect.
It was so bad that after dropping just a few car loads, I decided to not move in at all and remained a nomad until my lease ran up. I kept my stuff in storage except for the desk and a half-dozen boxes that I d already moved in.
HERE S THE KICKER! In February of 2008, I moved out my unopened boxes and turned in my keys. I was asked if I d like to schedule a walk through to look for damage. I told them I never even moved in (and why), so that shouldn t be necessary. After all, what kind of damage could there be since I never moved in' Big mistake! Two days later, I got a bill. Seems that the cost to clean, repaint, and shampoo the carpeting exceeded my entire deposit amount and they needed me to send more money. I left about 5 voicemails with their management in Tempe, AZ asking how this was possible since I never lived there. The only call I got back was on my office phone at the crack of dawn way before anyone gets to work. I then called the property directly, told them I never moved in and wanted to know how come I OWE money and I m not getting my deposit back. I was met with a long Ummmmmmmm , followed by as many BS excuses as imaginable. We have been in the we aree going to have to look into that stage for a couple weeks now.
One other thing - there is dog doo-doo everywhere. Nobody cleans up after themselves.
