I have been living at Harbor Cove Apartments for one year now. When I had more than a month to go I approached the office folks and asked them to let me know at what rate they would like to renew the lease. They kept telling me that I will be told in good time. When they finally sent me the renewal notice they sent it with less than 30 days to go and left me with no choice but to renew the lease.
The tenant cars get vandalized on a regulat basis and hot water is but barely and that too on a good day. Also, getting the office folks to not condescend is a Herculian task. You would think that the office people are doing you a favor by letting you in. They treat you like homeless but charge you a king's ransom.
Even though this place is at best average, the rents can work up to at least 1400$ for a paltry one bedroom with no good view once you include the surcharges.
My suggestion is this. If your lease is coming up for renewal, start looking. The newer tenants get better deals than those already here. They are counting on you on simply rolling over and putting up with these egregious conditions.
Don't wait for them to renew your lease - they will screw you over royally.
