I've lived here for years and had no idea how many apartments the complex had -- it's so big none of the tenants know (the buildings are different sizes). That's something only management would know (and I checked the press release on the Essex website announcing their purchase of the place -- guess what -- there are 400 units exactly).
It used to be a great place to live -- now they're raising rents on a daily basis (without making any improvements to justify this). It's like paying luxury pricing for a slum now. Gee, maybe they'll start charging for parking soon and they can change the next management post here to read "And parking here is only $150/month -- a bargain compared to the $300 you'd have to pay in SF.
All the long-time tenants have been moving out in droves (we're really keeping the moving companies busy this summer!). I'm planning to do the same.

From the staff at Harbor Cove:
We invite you to our community to take a tour of the real Harbor Cove. We’re proud of where we work and live and would love the opportunity to show you.
As employees of Harbor Cove, we’re disappointed when a resident leaves unhappy. However, as you have noticed, the majority of the reviews for any apartment community on any apartment rating website are negative. Every day we continue to improve the community which is also home for many of us. Our maintenance team has been restructured resulting in faster response times and we’ve always had 24hr emergency maintenance service. They also “turn over” apartments for our new residents, this takes some time as we want each home to be spotless when you move in. We’re in the process of updating the landscaping and are looking forward to its completion this spring.
Many of our residents received lease renewal offers that were significantly higher than they were used to in the recent past. However, all of the renewal offers were based on the going market rate, and often somewhat below. While this obviously is upsetting to many residents, we are still one of the most affordable Foster City rental communities. Of course, as with any rent increase, some residents unfortunately left. Fortunately though, we’ve welcomed more new residents than we’ve had to say goodbye to.
If you’re looking for a wonderful place to live, we’d like you to come and see for yourself. You can contact the leasing office 7 days a week for a tour or more information.

What a joke, that letter from the staff. They don't even respond to emergency pager calls, and this is before 7pm PST.
