I read all the reviews on here before moving in Jan 2009. So far, it is a good place to live. I live on the 3rd floor with tenants on both sides of my unit. They never made a squeak. Like someone pointed out, everyone keeps to themselves here. Neighbors are not super friendly but not hateful to others either. There are about 85% of ------- that lives here, and you can smell the cooking of curry throughout the hallway and even travels to the upper level. There are alot of families with kids living here and you will see moms walking their kids around, or they play with the neighbor kids outside. The down side of living here include the use of laundry room. Sometime people would leave their clothes in the dryers or washer for long period of time and you may have to wait until the next day until your turn to use it. Sometimes, people get impatient and will remove the clothes themselves so that they can use the machine. This place has a lot of pets especially dogs. You can always find dog crap everywhere on the lawn. There are bags place all over the apartment that you can use to pick them up, but people do not want to bother to even use it. There is a fixed water bills here about $25/mos that everyone have to pay. The landscape maintenance crew minds their own business and does their job. They are nice and courteous. However, there are times where they used my assigned parking to park their vehicle. If they are around, they will moved it. Rent here is typical if you compare to every other places near by. I have been here almost a year and never seen any mold, insects, or roaches consider of the way I store my foods. The maintenance crew was nice and quick with fixing things. My garbage disposal went out (my fault)and my light bulb died one time, and they came over the next day to fix it. It is nice to live here if you have a pet, because walking your dog is just a few step away from the lake. Everything you need from any stores are just a walk away or driving down one or two streets. I never have to drive far for anything. A police station and the city fire department is down the street. Feels very safe here. If you decide to live here, I suggest do not park your car in the streets neighborhood near Edgewater park or your car will be vandalize. Boyfriend had his tire slashed one time because he could not find street parking near the apartment. . Across the street from harbor cove is the unsafe apartment complexes.

Yes, the maintanance guys are great, and always try to help where they can. I love to meet and greet the dogs who live here, so that's a plus for me. Living with animals enriches all of our lives. Some people are rude about picking up, but overall, the poop gets picked up, if not at that moment then as soon as a person gets a bag. As with anything in life, there are times when you have picked up and then your dog surprises you. I certainly agree about the quiet, and I appreciate that. Cooking smells can be annoying at times, and especially so since I'm a vegetarian and hate the smell of meat. But, your use of the "-------" told me you were a bigot. Given your dislike of animals and people, I'm surprised you're as positive as you are about HC. The international flavor here adds dimension and warmth to an otherwise drab, semi-pleasant suburb, don't you think?
My only negative comment about the residents is that I wish everyone would cooperate with the garbage and recycling program. It is unacceptable that someone ruins the entire bottle and can bin by putting in plastic bags filled with garbage, or paper and cardboard into the trash dumpster. Incredibly selfish and inconsiderate. Other than that, (well, and perhaps the smell of cigarettes all over the place), I find the neighbors pretty polite and friendly.

You can kiss my behind that you disapprove of my use of "---". It is sensitive people like you that I used that in the first place. I am just being helpful for future tenants and describing what I see here. I would have used the word "-------" if I was not being considerate of your sensitivity. And no, I do like pets and have a dog of my own at the place. I was describing about how gross it is that poop are lying around everywhere on the lawn.
