After living in Archstone for approximately 3 years, I can't complain too much. This is a nice place to live if you have certain tastes, but we've outgrown it. It's definitely not a great place for families with children old enough to need a place to play. When we first moved in, the building was very clean and very new. It has that air of urban luxury-loft style living. The location is actually great, because you're close to parks and businesses, but not in a very urban setting. It's an apartment, so there's noise, although the walls seem to be thicker than most. The worst source of noise comes from the sirens from ambulances coming and going to the two hospitals across and down the street. We've never had any troubles with the management like many people who seem compelled to complain. They seem professional, and for the most part we stay out of their business and they stay out of ours. Overall, you're getting an above average apartment with nice fixtures, high quality and well maintained common areas, and an excellent location. Now for the annoying stuff. With the exception of only a few units, all of the apartments feature large windows either around a courtyard or facing another building. What this means, is that you and 25 of your closest neighbors have mutual line of sight on nearly your entire apartment. It's a voyeur's dream, and the average person's privacy nightmare. Unless you're one of those types that enjoy being watched, you'll probably have to keep your blinds drawn at all times, especially if you have one of the street level work-live lofts. It's also quite expensive, especially now after Archstone purchased the property. No doubt they'd like to recoup their expenses, and they're taking it out of their tenants. Our rent has increased from a high, but still reasonable rate to something we would never dream of paying. They also make you rent a storage unit, and no storage is included in the unit. Disregard anyone who complains too much about garbage, noise, the management, etc... Unless you're OCD, or extremely demanding, none of this will be a problem for you.

As far as noise, I guess you have better neighbors than we did. As I said in my review, the walls there are the thinnest of any complex I've ever lived in. So if you're going to ask people to ignore my opinion, I'll ask them to ignore yours -- either you have no neighbors or you have a hearing impairment. Or you're just being rude.
You did remind me that I forgot to mention how people kept leaving garbage in the hallway, like it was too much trouble to carry it to the trash room on their own. I'm just happy I've been away form there for long enough to forget the details, until reviews like this one bring them up.
