I have been a resident for over five years and have seen things change a lot since then. Here is my feedback for those who are looking for apartments. I was also wondering if the owner of this property ever read what is on this website. 1. The overall upkeep of the neighborhood is not as good as it used to be. We used to have dry leaves take care of 3 times a week and grass and flower beds taken care of more often. But since the new management took over, the neighborhood is not as pretty as it used to be. But it is still better than few other neighborhoods in Fremont. 2. In the last couple of years, the quality of residents has gone bad. They are loud, impolite, play loud music, have their windows rolled down while driving their cars with loud music after midnight, using swimming pool area to have family parties with alcohol, leaving garbage bags outside their apartment for days and many more. 3. I remember, when I had moved in, they had some sort of private security. But with the new management, there is no private security. There has been cars broken into in the past but nothing serious. If someone plays loud music, has loud parties you just have to live with it. 4. Recently there were some apartments rented out to an Indian technology company. Seems they have a training facility close to Durham greens. At times there were more than 15 software engineers from India living in each of these apartments. How do I know it? One such apartment is right above mine. Every few weeks new group moves in. sometimes 5 sometimes 15. I have talked to a few and it seems they were not aware of the fact that its not legal to have 15 adults living in one apartment. They all leave the neighborhood by 8 am and return after 6pm. No wonder the leasing office staff hasn't noticed this. Their company provides them training and let them stay in these apartments till they are placed on a job. 5. The staff in the leasing office may appear rude at times becuase English is their second language. The leasing office manager never smiles or returns phone calls. I don't have to deal with them on daily basis so I don't worry about it. 6. The washers and dryers are not in the best shape. Recently I noticed a flyer posted in one of the laudry rooms asking residents not to wash cloth diaper in the washer. Since then I have taken my laundry outside. Can you imagine washing your clothes in the same washer where someone washed poop filled diapers? Didn't I mention the quality of residents has been very bad? 7. The racial mix of this neigborhood has changed too. 5 years ago used to be balanced with almost equal number of Whites, Latinos, Asians, ------- and few ------. Now majority are ------- or Pakistanis , Asians and ------. 8. The parking is one space per apartment and lots of unassigned spots for a second car or guests. 9. The car wash area has standing water next to it which never drains. 10. The gym is below average. 11. As per Fremont's housing office, some of the apartments in this neighborhood has to be provided to low income groups. You can get more details by calling them. 12. Recently there was some concrete dug up and left on the side of the road causing driving hazard. So why am I still a resident of this neighborhood? It is still cheaper than other places in Fremont. My work is just across from 880 less than a mile away. I will be retiring in a couple of years and moving anyways. So why bother moving twice. The next place I move to could be worse. If you still decide to move to Durham greens, good luck.
