Reading older reviews, i assume the old management was horrible. A new management team has taken over as of january 2008, and although they are very new, they are very proactive as far as maintenance, tenant relations, and tenant safety are concerned. The complex is old (built in late 60s), but the units are spacious compared to a lot of fremont's other offerings...the price is also unbeatable for the location. Right next to central fremont shopping centers, walking distance to everything you'd ever need. At this point, the management is still getting used to running the place, so if you're thinking of renting at this complex, be prepared to deal with a little bit of disorganization and strange ways of obtaining information. Give the management team another year and they'll be great on all fronts. They're very nice and accomodating, just a little bit lacking on the communication, mainly because they are so busy renovating the place. It's also close to an elementary school...so mainly families living around the area. The complex is surrounded by nicer/newer looking apartments on all sides so that raises the overall comfort level of living there in my opinion. Great place if you're looking for a convenient location at a good price, as long as you dont mind living in an older unit. I personally have lived in 60's era houses all my life so it's nothing abnormal for me. The unit's are fourplex style so it provides a more isolated feel than motel style apartments...they're basically two story duplex units. The grounds are nice, well kept...willow trees, playground...again nice, but nothing particularly special. Only other weird note...the unit we toured and the one we are moving into...the kitchen has a weird layout and is small, the fridge blocks 2 sets of cabinets and prevents you from opening the stove and fridge simultaneously. It'd be much better if they just took out the blocked cabinets and put the fridge in that space...maybe i'll suggest that to them :-).
