We had no problems living in this apartment complex until Cathy Maya took over the duties as manager. After she took over, we would receive notices almost monthly that we had not paid our rent when we had done so. She also took responsibility for and then lost/stole a $60 package of ours which was delivered to the Silver Lake (formerly Silk Oak) office. She is by far the most rude, incompetent, arrogant manager I have ever encountered in my 10 years of living in various apartment complexes. Since she took over the complex, the pool was closed by the health department, the laundry room would get locked much earlier than the 9PM time which was posted on the door as the closing time, the exercise rooms were almost always locked, the parking situation was TERRIBLE (especially after Cathy Maya informed the towing company that they were not supposed to tow unauthorized vehicles from spots which belong to residents), the security gates were broken half of the time and on more than a few occasions the mail boxes were broken into. I would seriously suggest NOT renting an apartment at Silver Lake until they get rid of their worst problem: Cathy Maya.

I wish you would have taken the time that you have wasted trying to slander me into cleaning your apartment that we had to completly rehab for the second time after you moved out. If you choose to comment get your facts straight let me help you. I am a clean up manager that is what I am known for and what I have done in my 8 1/2 years in the industry. I get rid of the Gangs that are in the property, drugs and yes prostitution and people that think it is O.K. not to pay there rent for months at a time like you.In the period of time that I have been here I closed the pool to fix the leak that was producing mold. I felt it be better to close and resurface the pool then to endanger my residents if they were to swallow the contaminated water. Then after the owners putting over 6,000.00 into the weight room which I had reopened (as it was closed for over 2 years when I got here in December)The RESIDENTS vadalized it again, so the owners of the property chose to close it.The parking situation was horrific when I got here. When the city of Fresno took out 154 units in the back of the property to put in the freeway the management at the time NEVER fixed the parking situation.Several residents were asigned to the same parking stall and were getting into fist fights that's why the halt on towing vehicles until we could redo the parking structure. I did!The parking lot has been repainted and renumbered, All the residents have parking stalls now and a parking pass as well. Because of the constant vandalism to the mail boxed by the residents we spent 15,000.00 on new ones. As for your lost or stolen package, it is still HERE! Which you have been informed of time and time again. Short term memory seems to be your thing just like you thinking you paid your rent when in fact you were sent to attorneys for eviction for non payment for 2 months. Anonymous, hmmm if you have the nerve to print my name then why won't you print yours Mr. & Mrs. Stout? Since I have implemented all these changes on the property we in fact did a survey with our residents to get there opinion of what they thought of all the changes, My leasing staff and Maintenence staff and of course of my performance. We were greeted with RAVE reviews! Our residents love all the changes we have made to beautify the property and they are very happy. We are at the highest occupancy that this property has ever been at since it's entirety so yes that does have something to do with the management team. I think it's ironic that you would complain about things now and try to slander my good name when in fact you lived in a pigsty before I got here and now that the property is beautified you complain. I suggest in the future if you plan on putting my name on anything get all the facts first and get your ideas straight, because if you ever right such trash about me again Jennifer and Michael I will sue you for slander. Cathy Maya

I find it appalling that a management company would employ someone with so little professionalism. The response above is childish. The fact that she uses a resident's name is a serious violation of privacy. I do not blame the resident for being so upset at the manager if this is how she responds. If she responds this way to them, how will she be with you? I would also seriously question living at any property managed by a company that would employ a person who responds in such a way.

To me it sounds like this manager knows her stuff, so why are you guys sladering her? She cleaned up the property and got rid of people like you. I definitly would not want to live there with people like you. That response is no way childish to me. She is rebuting what was stated above. Oh and on the fact that she used the residents name, anonymous, the person used her name right of the bat, so whats the big deal. I found it pretty funny thats you can talk crap about something you aren't even involved in...do you live there? Have you ever lived there? Or are you talking out of your a**?

Anybody who has lived in that complex with Kathy as manager should know that she is part of the problem, not the solution. California law is no concern of hers. The stuff she knows is how to push out tenants and keep their deposit. She would love to go to court since she knows the complex will be paying for her lawyer and the tenant will be paying for their own (while trying to scrape up the cash to pay for a new first & last and deposit). If she told me the grass was green I would have to go verify it. I find it funny that someone who has never lived in the complex can say that another's comments are not valid because of never living in the complex. I did live there and I know what really happened. I have never lived in an apartment more poorly managed than Silver Lake. I feel sorry for all who live there (other than the jerk that stole my box spring when I was moving out).
