My wife and I lived at The Lake apartments for one year. We enjoyed our time there, particularly in the evenings when the fountains were lit. It was relaxing and fun to walk around the water at night.

The Lake apartments is a very charming apartment complex. The construction is solid and the grounds are very well maintained. The lake is cleaned regularly and there is a good variety of ducks, fish and turtles. The apartments have very good Feng Shui and are comfortable and cozy, with wood burning fireplaces and decent soundproofing. The spa is situated very nicely under a canopy of trees.

The leasing and maintenance staff was courteous, professional and friendly. The response time to maintenance requests was very fast.

The security, however, was not the greatest. My garage was broken into and personal belongings were stolen out of my car. The garage, incidentally, was at times more trouble than it was worth as visitors constantly parked their vehicles in front of it, blocking my access.

My biggest gripe about the place concerns the way management used my security deposit: they deducted over $500 to paint the walls of the apartment when I moved out. I found this unreasonable because it was not necessary; a little putty and some touch-up paint would have been sufficient, and would have cost much less than $500.

Bottom line: if you are looking for a charming place to live in North Orange County, you will find it at The Lake apartments. But the security deposit is relatively high, and, in my opinion, management didn't use it fairly.
