Not so Hot. Serious Management Problems

I lived in the Lake Apartments for a few years. The physical surroundings are nice. Like the title says- Lakes. The units themselves are nice with unique views. The grounds are well kept and the lake layout is very nice.

But the management has turned over a many times and each time it goes down hill even further. Rents get increased every 6 months or so. Sometimes the renewal is for 6 months; sometimes for 12. It just depends on the whim of the managers at the time.

The trash does not get picked up around the dumpsters. People leave furnture by the dumpsters that will take weeks to get removed. The security gates break routinely and it takes months to get them fixed, In the mean time many cars have been broken into. The exterior locks to the parking lot are broken and people just walk through the complex who don't live here. Management has had numerous turnovers. Each management team says they will clean up the place but all they seem to do is change some minor issues and then raise the rent. Tenant turnover is very high.

Management has kicked people out of their parking spaces and used them for themselves. Often they say its for other tenants but then you notice their cars in the space.

Common area lights go out all the time. With the rocks here it is dangeours to walk by the water at night if it is no lit. The door to the pool was broken and any child could just walk right in if they could open the door.

Some people have reported that management docked them for minor things on the security deposit.

The management also keeps replacing the maintance team. Half of the time they maintenance team has no idea what they are doing, the other half of the time the team is really good and then they leave for some reason. It just seems hard to keep a good maintenance person.

Sorry to say these things, but it is good to know if you are considering living at the Lakes in Fullerton because the place looks really good from the outside and these items are not really apparent until you live there.
