Gone into the Toilet From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 1/11/2007 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007   I've lived here for barely two years and found the previous management friendly. While maintenance was quite slow, they did fix whatever they could to my apartment, which seemed to be quite a fixer-upper for the cheap rent compared to other similar units. The vaulted ceiling is nice, space is ample, and there are plenty of cabinets. Not to mention the fireplace. However, after they left last year, things have really gone downhill with the new management. They're quite unfriendly. Maybe "quite" is an understatement. I don't feel as connected to them or able to joke as much with them anymore. All they seem to give two cowpies about is getting that rent check. The new maintenance crew doesn't seem to do much when it comes to fixing the common areas. I can vouch for the comments about the high turnover rates of tenants and maintenance. The office is also rarely open. Finding a member of the management team is a game of chance. Parking is a big problem, especially if you have more than one car. If you have a visitor or a second car, you might end up walking to the complex from the 7-Eleven at the corner of Garnet and Placentia. Enjoy. (The safety implications of single young females walking alone at night to the complex are obvious.) Be aware of the overzealous CSUF campus police, as they love trolling the neighborhood when they're bored. My personal gripes with my apartment and the complex: - My doorbell and intercom system have gone unfixed for almost a year despite repeated visits to management. My door was never replaced and the wood continues to rot away. - The security gates give out for no apparent reason. - The electricity bills are too high, even after having my old crusty AC/heater fixed (I had no AC for a week when it was 100 outside and no heat when it was chilly outside). Retrofitting the entire apartment with CFLs have seemed to help...somewhat. - My building seemed to have many issues with the hot water...until the whole system broke. The apartments are really beginning to show their age. - The lighting around one of the buildings and the laundry facilities were out for weeks. Someone seemed to have put ordinary incandescent bulbs as stopgaps. - The laundry area is flooded often, some of the machines go out, and the card readers barely work - even for newly issued cards. It's almost as if you're fighting with a vending machine to take your old and only dollar bill. - Trash dumpsters fill up very quickly and are seldom emptied. People leave entire pieces of furniture there and are seldom picked up. - Carport and garage parking near the NW corner of the complex is a game of Russian Roulette in hopes that someone doesn't come flying around the blind corner. - I have a pot smoker living next to me and can often smell the marijuana fumes coming in through my bathroom's vent. Caveat emptor.
