Some minor problems, but overall not bad

I live in a 1 bedroom unit, and will be moving out as soon, but would be more than willing to stay were it not so expensive to live alone. That said, that Lake has some issues that can't be ignored. First, parking is bad if you don't have a spot or want to invite a guest. Because there are so many other apartments in the area, good luck trying to park along the street! Though the parking is all gated, security is still rather lax since the doors are often wide open. In fact, one of the doors was missing a lock for over a month all together, and when they finally fixed it they neglected to give me a key to the new lock! The staff isn't exactly going to win any awards, but I've always found them helpful. They've responded to any issues very promtly and have never had any reason to complain. If you have a problem, you must bring it to their attention or they will never fix it, but once you do they seem very capable and willing to help. The units themselves are both good and bad. My unit is very spacious, and the new carpet and fresh paint has been very nice. High cielings help make it feel open, and though The Lake is very close to the freeway (my unit is especially close) I don't hear a thing assuming my doors are closed. Noise has never, ever been a problem because of the way the units are built (or maybe I just got extremely lucky with my neighbors') but this is a huge pro! Still, my outside patio is unusable because of the constant influx of leaves from a nearby tree and the fact that when it rains, the patio tends to flood due to poor drainage. This is definitely an annoyance. Also, the Lake features themselves tend to attract bugs and sometimes smell, but this was never much of a problem. The Laundry rooms are downright filthy, so be aware of that, but I've never had an issue with people stealing clothes and there are three rooms spread through the complex. However, there are only 4 washers and 4 dryers in each room so you'll probably have some days where you have to wait to get anything done. The pool, spa, and workout room are all nice features if you use them and are well kept and clean. The grounds are pretty, but also can get very dirty, though that may be because there has been lots of construction going on. Walking distance from target, close to CSUF, and right down the street from a grocery store makes this a good location.
Overall, the lake is an all-around good living experience. It certainly isn't perfect, but I don't expect perfection. If I had to choose another place to live all over again, I'd consider the Lake because I know that while there are some minor issues, I know that I'd be able to live my life without any major problems.
