Montejo Apartments

I would NEVER move back! From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 2/12/2006 Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004 1 response   I wondered if these reviews were actually true until I read the reviews for this complex. They are so true. Here are cons: Bad area, there was actually a murder across the street. There's an adult bookstore on the corner that was open 24 hrs. There's a strip club right down the street and transvestites hanging out on the corner. NOISY! I could always hear the neighbor's baby next door crying. There were BRATTY kids yelling and screaming all over the place. They would look in my windows and knock on the door and run away. It didn't help that there was a playground in the middle of the courtyard- the kids were so loud that I had to turn on the air conditioning even whent the weather was nice out. When I moved in the yard was filled with trash, weeds and dirt- no grass. The management's explanation is that the yard is entirely the tenant's responsibility. What *could* have been a good feature (privacy fencing) was not since the fence was old and needed to be replaced. The door actually FELL OFF it's hinges and had to be propped up and with a cinder block to keep it closed. Never got fixed.... Only had a window unit conditioner (and only in the living room). Very STUFFY sleeping at night unless the sliding door was open (not exactly safe on the first floor). At one point we actually had roaches. I didn't realize it until I woke up with a roach on my face one morning. Ewwww! One of the grossest experiences ever. To management's credit, I did see a maintenance worker spraying for bugs a few days later. Laundry was very expensive and not enough washers/dryers for the amount of apartments. Pros One of the only places with a yard and since I had a dog that was a big perk. That's really the only good thing I can say about the complex. Overall I would definitely not recommend this place unless you have a family of noisy kids, in which case you'll fit right in!
