Under NO circumstances are you allowed to break your lease: no health/medical, no job relocation, nothing. You are stuck here until your lease runs out. If you do plan on moving at the end of your lease, don't say anything until it's exactly 30 days before your lease expires (to reduce the level of harassment from the maintenance man). Then turn in your notice. Take photos when you first move in. Also, the security deposit is used to pay for the painting and carpet cleaning when you move out. Rest assured, you won't get it back (painting fee: $33/hr $30/can of paint).
A newsletter was issued in mid-April, 2008, to all of the residents. It was taped to each door, as they usually do. It stated the following (this is verbatim):
Guests: A guest cannot stay for more than 12 days in a year. Guests must be accompanied by an adult resident when using amenities. Guests are not allowed use of the fitness room. Trees, Shrubs, and Landscaping Beds: Walking through or playing in the landscaped areas is prohibited as it damages and destroys plants. Bikes/Strollers/Wheel Toys Storage: For safety and visual concerns, these items are not to be left by front doors, under stairwells, or in carport areas. Parking: Please use your assigned covered parking and ask your guests to use open guest parking. Improperly parked vehicles can be towed without notice at your expense. Backing into parking is prohibited as it can damage landscaping and emit exhaust in areas where residents may be sitting or walking. Quiet Please: All residents are entitled to quiet enjoyment of their home. Quiet time is from 10:00pm to 8:00am. Any time there is excessive noise coming from your apartment you are in violation of your rental agreement. This includes loud stereos or TV's during the day time hours. With the warmer nights, your neighbor may have their windows open and sound does travel, so please be considerate. Fitness Center and Laundry Facilities: These areas are for residents only. Guests are not allowed. Please keep laundry room doors closed at all times. (Doors remaining closed to these areas NEVER happens; the Laundry Room at the back of the complex has its door always propped open, hence the laundry theft.)
