Nice place to live, but they illegaly kept half my deposit

We enjoyed living there. The property is very pretty. When we moved out, we did a walk through with the property manager. He said it looked good to him and no damages were seen. We had to write a letter to get a refund of our deposit and then received only half. They did not send us any notification of what the deposit was used for, as required by law. When we reminded them of this, they ignored our requests. We are taking them to small claims court.
