Looks nice but looks aren't everything

We chose the Highlands because we'd get a garage, because it was gated, because Grand Terrace was nicer than Colton but about the same cost of living. Let me tell you how NOT good the experience has been. When we moved in the carpets were stained, the glaze on the bathtub was cracked, and the AC started leaking right away. Maintenance got someone out for the AC (more on that later) and said they would send someone out for the tub within a week, since it should have been fixed before we got there. Not only did they never send someone out, when we finally called to ask them what was up, they informed us that we and the cats would have to stay out of the apartment for at least 48 hours while they fixed the tub due to fumes. That's why you fix things up before people move in, folks...
The leaking AC started again three weeks ago, just when the weather is really heating up and becoming AC necessary. The exact same problem as before - an overflowing drip pan. We slapped our biggest pot under the leak to catch it, although it still splashed out so that the carpets and probably the floorboards were soaked. Someone came out the day after we complained about it. He looked at it, slapped some putty on it, then left. It started leaking again, so we called again. This time it took TWO guys to not fix it. It's now been leaking for two weeks and we've been calling every day, including weekends, for someone to come. Nobody has showed up. The people we spoke to about it either outright ignored us (if we had to leave a message, they never called back) or LIED to us by telling us someone would be out in the next couple of days. We finally called again this morning and were told that someone was on their way that minute - yeah, right. I have a feeling there's been some water damage done to the floors now and if they even THINK about revoking our damage deposit for it...
One more thing - the gate NEVER WORKS. We've been here for eight months and the gate has been functioning for maybe 6 weeks, total, of those eight months. The gate keeps breaking and it keeps taking them forever to fix it. So take the "Gated community" thing with a huge grain of salt. Even when the gate does work, all anyone has to do to get in is to park themselves by the gate and wait for someone with a remote to open it to go in, then follow them. Security is nonexistent.
The garages are teeny-tiny. Even a few more inches on either side would make them easier to park in. As it is you're better off using them for storage (most people do). Parking is horrible, even if you aren't trying to park two cars. The lights on the walkways go out frequently and it takes them forever to replace them.
And management is a bunch of witches (the disgruntled temp's review was right about this). When they drive around in their little golf carts you better believe they think they're better than the actual cars around the place. One girl actually cut me off in her golf cart and proceeded to putt-putt in front of me at 5 miles an hour, like she was taking a tour. I know that's a minor complaint but it's indicative of their general attitude towards their residents anyway.
STAY AWAY. Overpriced for a whole lot of nothing. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7

I'd have to contest to the author of this review as well as the previous author (myself) being pure genius. Just in case you're wondering, this is the "disgruntled temp" mentioned in the review. I'm currently working as the manager of another property located in the city of Riverside, California and a resident of mine just stepped in, ecstatic that she'd just been rendered a position at The Highlands. Lawd Jay'zus! Of course I got an instant flashback of my previous encounter with this property that I choose to occasionally refer to as "-----'s lair" - I immediately logged on and went to this website in attempt to show her the property's reviews in attempt to save her life. Tragically, she's still going to work there, but at least now she can go there with a "chip already on her shoulder". Lord only knows that she'll be greeted with one. |
