I've lived in many different complexes over the years and the reviewers here have got it right, this is the worst place to live. The office staff are idiots and they honestly don't care about the residents. You rarely get a return phone call, it takes them days or weeks to come on a maintenence issue - that's IF the staff bothers to let them know. We've had MICE for over a month and nobody has done anything. I've had to call the Housing Authority on them now.
It's a nice looking place and I love Grand Terrace, but they spend more time pruning the lawns here than on anything else. And yes, the ants are bad, spiders too. BEWARE of The Highlands!!!

We' now had Mice for over 5 months with no help from management to get rid of them. Housing Authority is hard and time consuming to deal with so we've decided to deal with it on our own. Break the lease' Sure, and be out $1500 because they require such a high deposit to move in. No thanks. We decided to stick it out through the end of our lease. So today, I give them notice. Only, my notice isn't good enough, we need to sign THEIR notice - and our 30 days can't start until we sign THEIR notice. Which means they the Highlands get to suck pro rated rent out of us because my roommate and I both have jobs and can't come in before their office closes in the middle of the week. I love how they managed to make leaving a bad experience too. Just when I thought I would be able to jump for joy at the thought of being out of this place.
