Warning: Apartments from Hell!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/27/2006
Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
When we first noticed the Highlands, we thought, oh, this place looks nice. So we decided to take a tour. The model apartment was tasteful, the landscaping was nice, the management seemed friendly. Everything was perfect ... at first. Then we actually moved INTO The Highlands. Biggest apartment mistake of our lives!
The walls and floors/ceilings are ridiculously thin. We hear everything our neighbors do, from flushing toilets to shutting the fridge. Then, like another reviewer on here, we've been plagued with ants ... and spiders and pillbugs and all other manner of creepy crawlies that we didn't even experience in desert living. We're honestly frightened to shower anymore for fear of bugs in the bathroom.
Parking is adequate, for sure. But it's not safe. Those "gates" out front' Yeah, they've been broken the whole time we've been here, and they never even gave us remotes. We had better protection living in San Bernardino!
Did we mention the air conditioner' It mysteriously broke our first day here. Maintenance guy couldn't fix it, so left us with a floor fan - for DAYS. Then a guy came out to repair it, but now it whines and shrieks like a cat in heat. We also discovered that it takes management days to respond to any maintenance complaint.
Ah, yes. THE MANAGEMENT. They seem nice at first, but then you move in, and suddenly they become the very picture of studied incompetence. No one is ever in charge. No one is responsible. This is hands down the most wickedly incompetent, useless, and uncaring management we've ever experienced in years of renting.
And then, there are the neighbors. We didn't see this one coming from our tour. This place is filled with rude, low-class people who blast their music and threaten others. Our first day here, someone threatened us in our car for wanting to drive through the road while he stood in it and fought with his girlfriend. Others seem to have experienced similar situations.
In other words, folks, do not rent here if you value safety, privacy, and good service. You will find none of them at The Highlands.
