It was worth it to break the lease and move out of here!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
We moved in to the Highlands in Feb of 2006 and at first all seemed fine. We were on a lower level right by the pool so it was a nice location. One month later the unit upstairs was rented to a couple of crackheads who never slept, stomped around the apartment all day and night, had a three year old that always threw crap down to our patio. In other words they were the neighbors from HELL. We complained to the office every other day and nothing changed. It got to the point where we were dreading going home after working all day. After 3 months we let the office know we were breaking our lease since they refused to do anything about the noise. We paid the penalty, they kept the entire security deposit even though we barely lived in the apartment and left it really clean.
Their maintenance staff is laughable. You can call the office and tell them about the problem that needs to be repaired but good luck getting anyone to come over and actually work on it. Our garbage disposal stopped working after only using it once and the guy came over and looked it it and hit the reset button and it worked fine untill the next time we used it and it stopped working again. This time the guy never came even after we called a few times.
One time the stove started making a loud clicking sound, like the sound when you are turning the stove on and are trying to light the pilot. Well it kept in clicking and clicking untill I called the office and told them about it. They said they would not be able to send anyone to check it for about 48 hours. I was outraged! They expected me to listen to that clicking for 48 hours'!' I took it upon myself and disconnected the stove, thus making the sound stop. Maintenance never showed up.
Parking really sucks here because it's not assigned and there were times that I had to park quite a distance away because there was nowhere to park. Some cars would park in prime spots and not move for days at a time.
They also had some kind of deal going on with local towing company because they would prowl the complex regularly looking for anyone parked in fire lanes or handicap parking. I was parking in a handicap spot for a few minutes while I unloaded groceries. Towtruck was backing up getting ready to tow my car when I got out and yelled at him to stop. From what I heard from other residents they would tow your car without any warning.
