Huntwood Terrace............hmmm, what can i say. First of all, it's true, I have lived here since '89 so listen up to what I have to say if you would like an acurate assessment of the complex.
Parking is lackluster--it would probably be better if people understood how important it was to park evenly inside the white lines (especially SUV drivers who are the most ignorant of us, imo). The recent implementation of a permit system has significantly cleaned up the parking problem.
The walls and overall insulation of the houses are cheap, cheap, cheap. I would not recommend living in a ground level unit....it will drive you crazy!
The windows are paper thin and do a very poor job of keeping the cold air out. As for noise, yes, the main street is the site of many drag races and the semi-trucks that roll by will make the water in your cup move.
Residents are really good about keeping their music and tv sets down. The only noise that you have to worry about are from the cars on the main street, a few occasional people who drive through the parking lot with their system turned all the way up, and a small contigent of young kids who get.....emotional, at times. If you can't stand kids (i.e, any of you shrewd and grumpy people out there), you're better off trying to find a place in a mobile home with all of the other grouches.
The last manager that we had was a racist white lady and was fired due to many resident complaints. The new one is working out pretty well. The maintenance guy's are great at what they do, but you might find them coming over to fill job orders more than your used to. It's not their fault......the materials used in the apartments are again, CHEAP. You will find that the kitchen drawers, doorknobs, and the bathroom's hot and cold handles are very faulty.
A few years ago, the apartments were transformed into a gated community. Well, not really. The apartments that are on the street side are not within the boudaries of the gates. They use a special key to access the parking lot. I live within the gates and feel very safe, as well does many other people, as I can see from unlocked cars and open windows in the parking lot (I am no different).
The issue with rent prices is very shady. It seems as if they increase prices every 6 months or so. It doesn't affect me much....my parents pay the rent (how sweet it is). All I know is that if I had my own family, I would not be living here.
Hopefully you find this helpful
