I currently live in Mission Bay and I have lived there since 2004. I am very sorry to hear the other person's reviews listed here. Just know there are two sides to every story. Yes the neighborhood in general is not the best neighborhood - but it could be worse. The Condos are located across the street (walking distance to the South Hayward BART station. Very convienent and economical -especially with today's gas prices.
The condo community is gated. And in addition the manager pays a private security patrol during the evening hours.
Yes the manager does question people she does not recognize - that's because she is ensuring strangers have not tailgated into the gated community for less than honorable intentions. (Remember the surrounding neighborhhod is not the best community).
My neighbors are all very friendly - we try to look out for each other's unit (neighborhood watch). They let me know if I left my garage open accidentally - or they will close it for me. Neighbors have helped me with some things around my unit - set up TV/electronics etc. One neighbor even helped me pack and move from one unit to another and she even helped clean/scrub the old unit - now wasn't that a really great neighbor!
I am searching for a place to buy and it is really hard to find something that offers all of the amenities that Mission Bay Condos offer. If they were for Sale, I would buy my unit in a heartbeat!
Also, the manager gets onto EVERY maintenance request immediately and thoroughly! And yes, she can get "cranky" if you do not have your rent on time or if there are unknown vehicles parked in our complex. Recently, she was inquiring about a beautiful new truck parked in the guest parking - turned out the truck had been stolen from a local car lot. I'm glad she's "nosy" !
