My family and I lived here from 07/06 - 08/07. While, generally it was ok there was certainly a lot of bad. We had several neighbors with drug problems that were loud at all hours with dealers coming in and out. There are many unsupervised kids playing in the trash bins, running around the parking lot, and climbing over the pool fence. Our car was broken into and everything stolen out of it. It was parked directly outside our building under the carport. the security guy saw nothing, yet he would follow my husband everynight from his car to our door. There is also a convicted sex offender who lives in the apartment directly across from the park who would always be on his balcony watching whenever I took my kids there which was several times a week. There were dead rats in the trash enclosures which were always overflowing and smelly.
When we put in our notice to move out they asked if we wanted a preinspection. They never came and the day I was cleaning to move out I found out that I would have to pay them for professional carpet cleaning and waxing of the kitchen and bathroom floors or supply an invoice from a company, you could not do it yourself. If I choose to do the general cleaning myself, I would have to scrub the toilet with a pumice stone, wash the inside of the washer and dryer (including the inner rubber ring) and move the washer and dryer out and wash the floors all around. This was only part of it, yet when I moved in there was no evidence that this was ever done and there were many things that were far from clean when I moved in.
They definatly do not want to give you back any of the security deposit. i put down over $700 and after professional cleaning fees of the apt, carpet and stripping and waxing of the floors, i got back about $200.

We never paid our rent late and we fixed most of our own things that broke. We were quiet and kept our kids under control. they do not care about you as a tenant they only want your money.

I had similar experience when trying to move out and nothing but problems from the management and their "book" of move-in paperwork within the first three weeks of moving in. I had moved there from across the country. After I put down my arm and two legs deposit to hold the apartment for me, I was told there had been a rent increase since I placed a holding deposit. The rent was even higher than originally advertised. We caught on real quick to what this place was all about and gave 30 day notice 3 weeks later. They nickel and dimed us for all it was worth. Really, how much damage can one person and a cat do in all of 5 weeks? I actually rented a professional carpet cleaner and cleaned all of the carpets myself only to be told the same darn thing as you, and apparently I had signed off on it when I signed all of their "30-day notice" paperwork stating I was moving out! Funny how they sneak all of that in.
