The Huntington is one of the few apartments that allow small animals. However, they are NOT pet friendly. Here's why. Despite collecting the $25 dollar monthly fee for pets, they are not willing to accept that dogs bark. I have neighbors who do not have dogs and they have complained to the management. The management in turn gave me a 3 day notice to cure or quit. Someone (anonymously) said my dog barked too much. Based upon this information, I somehow was supposed to stop my dog from barking or else I would be forced to vacate the premise.
It seems paradoxical to me, but what type of company accepts a monthly fee and then says you aren't welcome' My dog is well behaved and barks only occasionally in the daytime at the gardeners who are using their lawnmowers. To have someone else who knowingly moved into an apartment complex that permits pets, and then allow them to make claims of nuisance in reaction to the normal response of dogs is puzzling and frankly does not give any pet owner occupant a sense of security.
If you have a pet, and live at The Huntington, be aware that you may be evicted based upon the normal behavior of your pet through mere accusations by other tenants. The management does not take the effort to verify the severity or truthfulness of these claims.
Rent here, and risk eviction. It's that simple. I hope you can learn from my poor experience here.
In regards to parking, if you have 2 cars, it will be very difficult for you to find parking. In addition, several tenants have been towed from their rightful parking spot because the tow truck drivers did not take great care in ensuring the parking permit was visible. These accidentally towed cars were recovered solely at their own expense. The management refused to reimburse tenants who were a victim of this mistake.

The Huntington is always happy to welcome your 4 legged family members. Bring them by the office for a treat if your in area.
We do require $25.00 pet rent monthly this goes to help with the monthly expense of providing pet waste bags and with additional landscaping care needs.
We do know that it is in a dogs nature to bark. However the only time it becomes a problem is when the barking becomes excessive. If and when we recieve complaints we contact our residents to inform them of the problem first. If the problem has not resolved then we may send a 3-day notice.
In situations were we recieve complaints about dog barking we also speak with the resident making the complaint to just let them know that dogs do bark, but it is the resident responisibilty to ensure it does not become a nuisance.
Vehicles that are towed from the community are only towed due to being in violation of community policies. If a vehicle was accidentally towed we would make every effort to have the vehicle released with no expense to the owner.

I thought staff at the apartment complexes was not supposed to respond on these reviews, or is that incorrect? I have never seen one actually admit to being staff but the above person apparently is staff at this apartment complex.

Barking dog ordinance for OC, which includes Huntington Beach.
Orange County Codified Ordinance 4-1-59 clearly defines what is deemed to be a barking dog:
“A dog that barks, bays, cries, howls or makes any noise for an extended period of time… Such extended period of time shall consist of incessant barking for 30 minutes or more in any 24-hour period, or intermittent barking for 60 minutes or more during any 24-hour period.”
It defines who is a responsible person:
“A person who allows a barking dog violation to exist, whether through willful action, failure to act, or failure to exercise proper control over a barking dog… Owner of property upon which a barking dog violation occurs.”

The Huntington arbitrarily enforces barking rules. I've received complaints, but my dog does not meet these requirements.
