The worst rental situation...

We we really excited about moving into our apartment last July. (We just moved out July 1st)The apartments were asthetically pleasing, and the staff seemed really nice. They showed us an apartment that was similiar to the one we would be moving into and when we saw the location of where ours actually was we were really excited. It was in the smallest courtyard with the only bad part being backed up to Golden west. We didn't realize at this time what a problem this was going to be until we spent MONTHS not sleeping due to the noise.

The privacy of the apartments was pretty much non existent. Within the first couple months of our stay (during the summer months) we had our door open and it was around midnight when my roomate and I were getting ready for bed and a security guard (which when you needed them were never around... how about the dozen car break-in's in the year we were there') was standing with his face looking into our screen door not saying anything until my room-mate saw him and upon him startling her she screamed at the top of her lungs. He said that he was only there to ask if we owned a Saturn. Isn't that what door bells are for, or hands for knocking' Weird occurences with random people either sitting on our stairs or coming to or door happened on a constant basis. There's nothing creepier than two girls alone and "solicitors" coming to your door well after dark.

We maybe conversed with two of or neighbors after numerous occassions of trying to talk with them. Both being "small" town girls it was very different for the both of us to encounter neighbors that instead of being friendly, closed their blinds, or instead of asking to keep the noise level down just opted for pounding on the walls or staring us down as they puffed on their cigarettes from their porch. I'm not sure how the other courtyards were but when we moved in, the management told us how friendly all of the neighbors were with each other and this is definetly not the case.

And then there is the mail... we spent months trying to get our boom box bearing mailman to get our mail delivery straight and still upon leaving the apartment complex were still finding our mail to either be returned to sender or delivered to someone else. Be very careful of this because when you address the mail man he instantly becomes defensive and your mail situation becomes a bit worse. It's always nice to come home to slobs also. You drive into the complex and the street is covered in mail, ads, and other trash. I was a bit shocked when I was checking our mail and the manager was there also and instead of thinking of a better solution (They have ONE small trashcan next to the mailboxes to hold everyone's junk mail.) refered to the tenants in the complex as slobs.

The gate was rarely in working order. It says a lot for a gated secure community. On a daily basis someone was sneaking in and hitting the gate which caused the gate to then mal-function and as the other posts stated, we all know how speedy the maitenance workers are.

I remember one time in the middle of the night there was a ten foot geyser shooting up from the ground onto or balcony and I called the emergency maitenance service and finally got a call back three days later to confirm the maitenance request.

There is an insanely high turn over in office staff. Nobody is on the same page, and I'm not sure that they even keep record of coversations. Through out the year we experienced small issues with this as we only communicated through a drop slot each month to pay the rent, but towards the end of our lease we were HOUNDED daily by the "salesmen" office staff for information as to if we were going to renew our lease. This continued even after we moved out.

Word to the wise, keep records of everything with these guys. Make sure that you do a walk through before you move in and even take pictures if need be. We left an absolutely immaculate apartment and only received 175.00 out of our 600.00 deposit. If you keep records of negative occurances through out your lease, you may have some negotiating power when lease time comes.

My room mate and I did not keep records and when we received our leasing letter and a rent increase of over 300.00 we had no negotiating power.

This is a business. There is no concern for the tenant by any means. Don't expect any sort of customer care or support. The apartment management is like dealing with used car salesmen.

Good luck... I wouldn't bother moving into these apartments and wasting a welcome mat.
