I want to be honest and reasonable in my rating of Turtle Ridge. It is a very nice community but the price of the rent is far to high which makes some of the issues I list a little harder to "swallow."

*The main gate only closes after 6pm and sometimes not even then. It seems like a small concern but if I am paying for a gated community, I should get one.

*There is barely any grass in the neighborhood. A few patches here and there and of course the main courtyard in the apartment area.

*The fridges are so small. You can barely fit anything in them.

*I know this is not the community's fault but it needs to be listed. The residents barely ever clean up after their pets. So if you own a dog and you take him/her outside to do his/her "business" you will have to dodge the layers of poop.

*Again, I know this is not the community's fault but the garbage men come twice a day and are VERY LOUD. As are the workers when they clean up in the garbage area. So if you are trying to sleep in forget it.

*The ant problem is disgusting. Words cannot do my disgust justice. I know living in California means living with ants and other bugs, but the amount of ants here is horrifying. Your walls, floors, counter, laundry room, sink, tub fridge and yes even your freezer turn almost black with the swarm of ants that reside here during the warmer months. Yes, they offer the insect spraying but its inconvenient if you own pets. You have to board them while they spray and have to keep yourself and the animals out of units for a long time. It never lasts long the ants always come back in the same numbers.

*The main entrance area driving into the community although beautiful, has a huge influx of spiders and spider webs. Which indicate to me they have not been looked after in quite awhile. (Since the webs are quite large and in the same place.)

*No ceiling fans in the townhouses. Or at least not in my unit.

*You live really close to the garbage bins.

*The floorplans are horribly planned out. There is no cross ventilation in our spare room. And you get two garages in some units and a two car garage in other units. Why not just give everyone the same garage space' The one car garages are horribly small.

*Although the community has issued a memo to all residents, some still park infront of their garages instead of in. It seems they do not want to enforce this rule.

*If you have kids they wont have much to do. There is only a small gravel gated area with one jungle gym in it for your kids to play on.

*There has been a huge spider and huge spider web above the mailboxes for several months. No one has come to take it down. It is so big it is not like you could miss it.

*Where the community is located there is no where to really walk around. You will need to drive to the nearest park and walk there.


There are the occasionally noisy neighbors but you get that everywhere and it is always quickly looked after by the community. It is a close knit community and everyone knows each other. They are friendly and pretty easy going. Your are literally minutes for the beach and the nice ocean breeze is wonderful to wake up to. The landscaping is gorgeous and is always well manicured. The maintenance here is amazing. They give you ample notice and are always friendly. Everything is looked after in ample time. So if you can overlook my grievances and want to pay the high rent, I would highly recommend it here.
