Overpriced but OK

I moved in to the corporate conglomerate complex about a year ago. Initially, the staff seemed nice but after 30 days and a signed lease things deteriorated pretty quickly. Management is consumed by the bottom line and will jump at any opportunity to nickel and dime you. The office staff is really not helpful, they smile when you come in but really do not add value because they do not care about your well being and do not know what they are doing (I see new people in there all of the time, so I assume turnover is high.)

My apartment was decent, my second story balcony faced the freeway and there was no real problems with sound. The biggest problem with the apartment was the ants. I think the complex was built on a huge anthill and you constantly need to be mindful with crumbs and raid to keep the ant traffic to a minimum.

The grounds are clean, they are currently renovating the fitness center and pool. I also never had a problem with parking but I did not have many guests (I guess guest parking is almost nonexistent.)

Maintenance was slow, it took them one month to fix my washing machine. The second time I went into the office to complain they gave me the keys to an empty apartment for laundry and I think someone thought I was breaking in because they purposefully shut off the power to the apartment mid-laundry cycle full of water. This gave me another reason to complain because no one around there seems to know what is going on.

The area is OK overall - I miss HB where I moved from originally. I recommend to anyone moving to the area to move to the beach - my old apartment was one block away from the water and cheaper. This apartment makes you constantly sign a new lease - if you cannot promise a minimum of six-months, if you go month-to-month your rent jumps up by $300 p.m. Needless to say, I am moving to a new place in one month. Good luck with this place - it is pretty hit or miss! P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
