I've lived in Woodbury Square for about a year. This is the 3rd apartment complex I've lived in, and I love it. I really don't get the negative reviews; maybe these people haven't ever lived anywhere else' Woodbury Square is awesome, and no I don't work for them.
First of all, renting with the Irvine Company makes all the difference. The first apartment complex I lived in, you had to make requests for maintenance for things like oh, the *only* toilet in your apartment, several times. NOT the case here. Any maintenance issue I have had is always looked into right away! The office staff greets me by name and answers any requests or questions I have. About a month after I moved in, they called *me* just to see if I needed anything. I've NEVER had a mgmt company ever bother with something like that. It was really nice.
The complex itself is really nice, and for the most part extremely well-kept. Even after the horrible fires we had last fall the cleanup of all the ash etc. was timely despite what a big job it was.
I have only ever had one issue w/ noise and one phonecall solved the problem. I haven't had a noise complaint since. Of course I hear footsteps every once and a while, or the occasional slamming of a front door, but that's just a reality of apartment living and it doesn't bother me. Even living above someone else's garage isn't an issue, which I was really concerned about at first. It's all pretty quiet.
The parking is the best parking I've ever had since I started renting apartments. The apartment comes with a garage, which I mostly use, but my boyfriend uses it on the nights he works late. That's the only time there's any problem finding parking-- if you get home at 11 or later, pretty much. I don't really get home late unless the BF and I are out together, in which case we make arrangements beforehand to have the garage free for whichever car we take so parking isn't a problem. My guests have never had to park far away from the apartment either.
I love the layout of my apartment. The bedroom is HUGE, and the bathroom has TONS of counter space. Apparently my particular unit is slightly larger than most for whatever reason, but it's a fantastic apartment. Now that my boyfriend lives with me though, it's a tiny bit cramped. I wish there wasn't such a large jump in price from the 1 bedroom to the 2 bedroom, or we'd just transfer the lease to a 2 bedroom. But with money being tight in this economy we will probably be looking for something else in 2009. I am nervous to leave such a great situation though. I will miss Woodbury Square, and told the BF we're only moving if we can find something as nice, just larger.
