I have lived in 3 different units at Woodbury Square.
1) I started out in a first floor 2 bedroom in the center buildings by myself. Loved being near the pool, the layout, and the garden view. But was next to the game room/ fireplace, and back then, the game room was opened till 10 pm, and would get noisy at times. People also liked to sit out by the fireplace and talk and laugh till 3 in the morning. That was annoying, and I would have to go out in my bathrobe and ask them to please go inside so I could get some sleep. But I loved the layout of the apartment, huge master bedroom, huge walk in closet, having indoor laundry, open, light, bright, nice size patio. I never used the air conditioner since I was on the first floor, and shaded by the tall buildings. The garage was large enough for tons of stacked storage in the back, and some narrow storage along one side, and I could still park my car in there, tho I had to walk quite a distance to get to it, and also a distance to the mail boxes (why are they not in the same building'). There was no problem with guest parking and I always felt safe. Staff was fantastic and bent over backwards (and no, I never worked for Irvine Company in any capacity.) Enjoyed the monthly breakfast, sorry they discontinued it later to cut costs. Loved the saltwater pool, except when the ducks would use it a lot during the spring time. Went through 2 upstairs neighbors. First one was very quiet, second one stomped around like they were wearing cement boots. Back then the price was even higher, and I was there as the economy began to melt and with it my paycheck and so could no longer afford it.
2) Moved into a second floor/ top floor dog friendly 2 bedroom with a roommate who had a dog. (Pets allowed in certain buildings). It was nice having the bedrooms separated by the living room. It was quite a bit hotter, the patio was smaller and looked across into another person's unit, and the garage was smaller. (Noted different size garages with each location.) Parking was poor in the back where that unit was, but okay if you or your guests did not mind walking a short distance.
3) Ditched the negative roommate and moved into a Jr One Bedroom, on the second floor over the garage. It is a very nice layout, tho i would have loved to see a larger walk in closet, a coat/ utility closet, and it has washer/dryer, which many small one bedrooms at other locations do not. The kitchen was a decent size for the size of the apartment. Went through 2 neighbors above me, first one terribly noisy especially at night with bed banging and laundry past midnight. Second one blistfully quiet. My garage was directly below, but not all are. I did not like the noise of the parking lot, especially the trash trucks 3 afternoons a week (at least they never came in the early morning) , but it beats the noise of a busy street. I had a view of the hills, and spent a lot of enjoyable time out on my patio. Unit was very hot and air conditioner did not work well, even after being checked, unless you turned it on all day. Found the best way to cool it off in the evening was to open the slider door and screen door, as well as the bedroom window and prop the front door open for about 10 minutes to get the heat out faster. The screen door seems to keep the heat in. Several inconsiderate neighbors... letting doors slam, running loudly up and down stairs at all hours of the night and morning, loud engines, car door alarms, smoking right under my balcony when I am on it and have all my doors and windows open (very allergic to smoke). Note that these noise problems and inconsiderations can happen at any location, and reflects on the neighbors more than the complex.
All in all, it is an apartment, so you are going to have typical apartment noise and other issues. Parking is better than most, but not perfect. Staff is courteous, friendly and helpful. Cars are not broken into each week like they are at some other apartment locations. If you are below someone in any apartment, you are gong to hear some noise. I found I heard noises having to do with hard healed shoes, opening and closing drawers and cabinets, running water and plumbing. I rarely heard voices or TVs or stereos.
Comparing prices to other places, these are nice apartments with their own private laundry, and all appliances included in price. Also, you do not pay extra for garages that are deep with storage area.
